The declared aim of almost all users is to ensure the highest possible machine and robot availability. Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance are the keywords in Industry 4.0. At SPS 2022 in Nuremberg (Hall 3A, Stand 426), the cycloidal gearbox specialist Nabtesco will be presenting what real-time monitoring by robots may look like in the future.
Condition Monitoring with digital twin gears
By combining digital gearbox models and corresponding algorithms in the robot control system, it will be possible in the future to monitor the actual operating behaviour and the specific load of each individual robot axis, and to calculate in real time how much wear and tear there is and whether service is required – an effective, economical solution and a novelty in robotics. Visitors can find out about the innovative concept at SPS and exchange ideas with Nabtesco’s application experts about the possibilities for their automation.
Broad automation portfolio for every application
In addition, Nabtesco will be presenting its extensive automation product portfolio in Nuremberg. This will include the user-friendly Neco® series servo gearboxes as well as the brand new Neco®HT high-torque gearboxes. The Neco® series is characterised by a high degree of precision, efficiency, modularity and flexibility, and enables enormous performance leaps in industrial manufacturing. The RD-C series hollow-shaft gearboxes, the powerful rotary turntables of the RS series and the drive unit with mecanum wheel will also be on display. No matter what application, sector or application: Nabtesco supplies reliable precision gearboxes and future-proof drive concepts for mechanical engineering and robotics.
Innovative, extremely high-performance technology
Cycloidal gearboxes offer unbeatable benefits for the manufacturing industry. The power transmission via cams and rollers ensures high efficiency, an enormous shock resistance (up to 500% of the rated torque) and minimum play over the entire service life (hysteresis loss as low as 0.5 arcmin). The increase in backlash is negligible even after long-term use.
In addition, their special design achieves excellent behaviour with respect to dynamics, load capacity and smooth operation. Even under heavy loads or when subjected to very fast and abrupt movements, the compact gearboxes ensure precisely executed movements and position them with high precision. The integrated angular contact ball bearings can cope with axial as well as radial loads and bending moments and contribute to the high tilting rigidity and resistance to shock loads (up to 500% of the rated torque). In addition, the lightweight design ensures applications with lower inertia, improved load conditions and reduced power consumption.
