Walking, Standing, and Sitting Safely
The ALLUXTM 2 knee joint is designed for stability in many everyday situations and helps reduce the risk of uncontrolled buckling. During the swing phase, the 4-axis design provides ample ground clearance. This makes it easier to walk on uneven surfaces and can reduce the risk of tripping. When walking down stairs or slopes, the prosthetic knee joint can bend in a controlled manner under load. This allows for a smooth descent using an alternating step.
Thanks to its large flexion angle of up to 180°, the microprocessor knee joint is suitable for many everyday situations, such as cycling or kneeling. When sitting, the 4-axis system folds in on itself, thereby enabling a more natural and comfortable sitting position.
How does the ALLUXTM 2 Adapt to Different Walking Speeds?
The ALLUXTM 2 knee joint continuously monitors knee position and movement. It automatically adapts to different walking speeds and detects unusual movement patterns. If there is a risk of tripping, the hydraulic system increases flexion resistance, thereby contributing to greater safety.
Various modes can be selected via the smartphone app. This allows the artificial knee joint to be adapted to specific everyday situations and activities, such as cycling, normal walking, complete locking, or a specific limitation of the flexion angle.
For added safety, the flexion angle can be limited by the user or the orthopedic technician. If the knee is continuously flexed under load for a few seconds, the system locks the flexion resistance at a predetermined angle. This function can be deactivated or adjusted with faster or slower response time for sensitivity.
Battery Life, Weight, and Weather Resistance in Everyday Use
The battery in the ALLUXTM 2 knee joint typically lasts about 4 days at a rate of approximately 5,000 steps per day and fully recharges in about 3 hours. A backup battery is included in the package and provides added peace of mind. Weighing about 1.5 kg, the electronic knee joint is pleasantly lightweight. Thanks to its IP44 protection rating, it is splash-proof and can be used even in the rain.
The ALLUXTM 2 knee joint is suitable for people with transfemoral amputation as well as knee or hip disarticulation who require a high level of stability in daily life while wanting to remain active.
It is designed for users with moderate to high mobility, typically mobility levels K2 to K4. Due to the optimized, low build height of the joint, it can also be a suitable solution for long transfemoral residual limbs and following knee disarticulation.
