Are you looking for an angular gearbox?

In angular gearboxes, the input shaft and output shaft are offset from each other. This allows torques, speeds, directions of rotation and/or forces to be transmitted at an angle - an ideal solution where space is limited. Based on cycloidal gear technology or in combination with a strain wave gear, you receive high-precision, reliable and low-maintenance drive solutions for robotics and general mechanical and plant engineering.

Wide range of applications

Cycloidal gearbox for right-angled motor attachment

Cycloidal gears offer maximum precision, dynamics and service life and are used successfully in robotics and automation worldwide. If the application requires a right-angled motor attachment, the right-angle gearboxes from the RDR series are the right choice. The high-reduction servo gearboxes are virtually backlash-free, extremely resilient and very compact. They are available with a solid shaft (RDR-E) or with a hollow shaft (RDR-C) and, thanks to their high power density, enable considerable cost reductions with a simultaneous increase in performance.

The precision gearboxes in the RD-C series also have a generously dimensioned hollow shaft. The hollow central shaft allows supply lines, cables and drive shafts to be laid in a space-saving manner, while at the same time increasing the load capacity. It does not remain rigid, but rotates with the output speed due to its design. This has the advantage that the position of the drive shaft can be determined directly via an encoder on the hollow shaft.

The advantages of our angular gearboxes:

  • Extreme precision
  • High rigidity
  • High shock load capacity (up to 500 % of the rated torque)
  • High reduction ratios with compact design
  • Integrated main bearing: no additional bearing required
  • Large hollow shaft for routing cables, hoses and lines possible
  • Long service life thanks to low wear

Strain wave gears and angular gears

Strain wave gears are small, backlash-free precision gears. If they are combined on the output side with a classic angular gears- for example a bevel gearsor a worm gears- users can no longer benefit from the zero backlash of the strain wave gear.

Angular gears

In angular gearboxes, the driving and driven shafts are perpendicular to each other, which deflects the flow of force at an angle. This usually occurs at 90 degrees, but other shaft angles can also be realized depending on the design. The two axes can cross or intersect. The compact design of the angular gearbox allows for very space-saving installation. Problems with the axial length can therefore be easily solved.

There are different types of angular gears. The most common are bevel gears (bevel gear and bevel pinion), worm gears (worm shaft and worm gear), hypoid gears (bevel gear and pinion, with shaft offset) and crown gears (crown gear and spur gear with straight teeth). Angular gears can also be combined with other gearbox types such as cycloidal gears and strain wave gears.
